The Videosymphonytv.com Show

by Techburrito.com Executive Editor, Alan Natale

Video blogs have really come into their own in the last two years and I have to say I enjoy watching them. Being Techburrito.com I, of course, love any content that’s about gadgets, Sci-Fi, the interwebs, robots, burritos… and I’ve got a new, fun one to introduce to you: The Videosymphonytv.com Show! This is a ten minute episodic video show featuring the lovely Kate Logan and the Luddite Jon Amirkhan who offer up quick-and-to-the-point reviews on things like mobile phone apps while serving up a candy-coated comedic spin on things to add fun-factor.

Their tag-line is “Tune In And Become Awesomer,” so right off the bat we know this is not going to be a dry video show rather it means a fun and fast-moving piece of info-tainment. Their most recent episode “Incognito” covered the iPad which, surprisingly wasn’t a pat review rather it involved streaming Netflix movies (I love!) and how the iPad may be used for creative expression (no spoiler alert if you watch the episode). The hosts Kate and Jon offer their uncensored reactions to the stuff they review and also allow a lot of personal humiliation as they expose their big egos when trying to go out into the public to explore Yelp‘s Monocle feature.

The Videosymphonytv.com show is a fan of G4′s Attack of the Show and popular video podcasts like The Totally Rad Show by Revision3 and, in that vein, invites everyone to be a part of the Videosymphonytv.com community through it’s Facebook page, follow on Twitter, RSS feed through it’s own site, through Stickcam.com and soon to be on iTunes. Yes, the show even live streams via Stickam.com as it shoots so that viewers may interact with the Hosts in between takes. The show is meant for everybody to watch though it is produced by Professionals and Student Interns at a Post-Production Institute in Burbank, CA called Video Symphony as part of it’s New Media Program. The show can be watched on it’s own site videosymphonytv.com, on Stickam.com live when shooting, and again will soon be published on iTunes as a downloadable and subscribable video podcast. Watch and enjoy this new, fun geek show!

Google Goggles – Say THAT 3 Times Fast

by Techburrito.com Executive Editor, Alan Natale

My love affair began in 2007 with GOOGLE’s Gmail and that love just, well, got better and better from there. What made things heat up between us? Allow me to direct your attention to the love-fest that is Google LABS (a small tab that has a beaker icon up in the right hand corner of gmail)… Google Labs provides a set of productivity tools which expands the functionality of gmail like a crazy Swiss Army Knife. My favorite Google Labs component pertains to a delay after sending your email – in case you’ve forgotten something or regret having hit send, use “Undo Send” and presto you’ve NOT sent that email and NOT made a complete ass of yourself (a great suggestion for anyone who’s just had a recent breakup). The list of what I love really goes on but another sexy thing gmail does is integrate with my computer’s webcam so I can do video/audio chat with my fellow gmailers; I use it a lot actually and it works remarkably well.

SIGGRAPH (“The People Behind the Pixels”), a Graphics Organization/Tradeshow, was held in my home base of Los Angeles this past week and I found out that my prized Google would be there. I made a pilgrimage to their booth and praised them up and down for getting me on board with Cloud Computing via “Google Docs” and lavished them with kudos for expanding gmail to even allow me to SMS. I did, however, bitch about email threading which cannot be disabled- I lose more emails through threading! Anyway, after I finished my diatribe, the lovely Google representative Noma asked if I was familiar with Google Goggles. She generously offered a demonstration and permitted me to video-share it with you. Behold…

At face value Google Goggles could be categorized as a SHAZAM app for pictures however, Noma went on to explain that you can use Google Goggles to translate text from one language into another. She pulled out a text book, waved her android phone over a page written in a foreign language/characters while invoking Google Goggles to translate into English- that use/functionality is pretty amazing! I should point out, though, that Google Googles is available for Android Mobile Phones and NOT available for the iPhone as of yet.

When I’m not writing entries for Techburrito.com or out and about to Tech events to gather info to share with you, I’m Producing, Writing, Directing, Shooting, Editing, Graphixing and Publishing a short, fun Geek Web TV Show called The Videosymphonytv.com Show. For our latest episode I did a small piece on Google Voice – watch the segment below. If you like what you see, I invite you to watch the rest of the 9 minute video show at www.videosymphonytv.com.

So you GO GOOGLE, I love you and wish that I had bought into your currently crazy high value stock the day it hit the Market. You rock, keep on keepin’ on, work that magic, I love you – call me!

I’m On A Horse… Or Am I?

by Techburrito.com Executive Editor, Alan Natale

Who’s mind wasn’t blown by the first, second now third OLD SPICE “I’m on a horse” commercials where a guy yaps on about how great he is with the ladies all the while transforming locations and pants?! Pants! Sure, it’s been talked about, remixed and marveled upon and I can’t blame anyone really. Our very good friends at G4′s Attack of the Show insisted on not talking to the horse but the man on the horse, actor Isaiah Mustafa. They got to the bottom of this pinnacle of modern film magic and shared it with all of us… so if you didn’t catch it on G4, well, then I’m sharing it now with you. Behold…

Leo Laporte, tech talk maven, explored the Old Spice commercials further on his TWiT Netcast tech talk show seeking answers; furthermore as to the hows and whys in detail from the actual makers…
